The refurbishment of the existing premises was driven by the need to reduce solar gain and rationalise circulation throughout the building. A new escape stair sits behind a brise-soleil wall, constructed from simple concrete blocks laid on edge and chosen for their local availability. Internally, the building has been completely reorganised — improved library and seminar facilities now occupy the ground floor, while new office accommodation extends across the first.
